EP 16 Dissolving Gendered Ageist Narratives

EP 16 Dissolving Gendered Ageist Narratives

At 68 and hailing from Australia, our guest –  Leonie-Ruth Acland –  speaks passionately about the necessity of intergenerational connection, and how dissolving ageist narratives helps us embrace our roles as sages at this stage of life.

Leonie-Ruth also shares the power of self-compassion in navigating the loss and self-doubt that can come with an aging body and mind.

Here are a few key insights from our delicious conversation:

Self-Compassion in Aging: Leonie-Ruth highlights the significance of embracing self-compassion to manage grief, transform self-shame, and rise above physical and emotional challenges. Understanding the interconnectedness of our body, mind, heart, soul, and spirit can lead to a more fulfilling life.

Intergenerational Connectivity: Maintaining relationships across generations provides valuable perspectives, wisdom, and energy. Whether through mentoring or community involvement, these connections foster support and broadens our understanding of diverse experiences.

Tailored Self-Care: Honoring our unique physical abilities and needs is crucial. From adopting specific exercise regimens, like yoga or dancing, to understanding our body type through practices like Ayurveda, individualized care is essential for our long-term well-being.
