Deborah Kosnett, 72, doesn’t believe in a ‘typical’ retirement.
After a successful corporate career as a CPA and a nationally recognized tax expert, she returned to her first love—acting.
Now a voice actor specializing in audiobooks, commercials, and museum narration, Deborah records from her home studio in Tampa Bay.
She’s also a background actor in films and indie projects, a lifelong learner, an avid reader, and a vintage collector.

Deborah Kosnett doesn’t really believe in retirement. After retiring from a corporate career in 2020, at age 70 she took on a new endeavor: working as a voice actor. She specializes in audiobooks, audio drama, commercials, and museum narration, all recorded in her professional home studio in the Tampa Bay area.
After graduating in 1975 from West Virginia State University with a B.A. in Speech and Drama, Deborah put her degree to good use, working for 5 years as a radio news anchor and director for WKAZ AM/WQBE FM in Charleston, WV. She also was active in Charleston’s community theatre and light opera groups.
After getting married in 1980, she switched gears, eventually leaning into the corporate world … working for several decades as a CPA in Washington, DC, and developing a specialization in exempt organization taxation. Along the way, she became a nationally-recognized EO tax expert, and frequently spoke at local, regional, and national tax conferences.
But a couple of years after retiring, Deborah realized she wasn’t really cut out for the “typical” retirement life. A life-long learner and doer, she decided to return to acting, her first love. In addition to voice acting, Deborah also works as a “background actor” – sometimes called an “extra” – appearing in both feature-length films and short indie and student projects.
